not sure - insect nest of some kind maybe?

we saw lots of these marking the boundaries of the little sliver of National Forest here.

We were wondering about this 'trail'

Looking down on the Walmart in Woodland Park from near the county line

Decided the 'trail' is actually marking a water line coming from Rampart Reservoir

I wonder what mountain this is - maybe up 67 direction
